After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.'” Matthew 2:1-2
The Magi knew the King was born. The saw his birth announcement clearly scrawled across the sky. But, how was is so obvious to them, and not so crystal clear to the rest of the world?
They were watching for it.
They were paying attention to what was happening around them. They knew the layout of the night sky and they knew when the new star appeared. They were watching for it.
As we search for the magic of Christmas, are we watching for God to show up? Or are we expecting the magic to come in the form of a present, or a perfect holiday?
Sometimes, God works silently, in the quiet corners of our lives. He allows us to find Him when we are still, watching expectedly.
Are you like me, finding it challenging to sit still this season? Yet, that’s what I need more than anything. To silently sit at the feet of Jesus and allow His words and wisdom to permeate my soul. I need to be watching and waiting for God to show up and speak His truth and love into my heart.
Maybe you can relate.
WIll you join me in praying that in the midst of busyness and celebration, we make the time to sit at the feet of Jesus and wait in wonder, watching for Him?
Prayer: Dear Lord, You know. You know I want time with You. I need time with You. Help me carve out time to sit at Your feet and bask in Your words and love. Align my heart with Yours as I watch and wait. Please let Your love overflow through me this Christmas. In Jesus’ name, amen.
