You Are God Alone

Posted on November 12, 2012 by stefanielynn3@gmail.com

“For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.” Psalm 48:14

Ever have a time when your world seemed to be falling apart?  Sometimes, it appears that everything happening is nothing God would want.

We must remember: No matter what, God is still on His throne.

We are assured in Matthew 10:29 that not even a sparrow can fall to the ground apart from the will of the Father.  In verse 31 we are admonished, “So do not be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows.”

One great thing about feeling like nothing is right, is, often we turn toward God.  Not always a knee-jerk reaction prompted by faith, but as a tearful, plea prompted by fear.

Whatever the emotion, God can, (and does!) use anything to draw us closer to Him.

We are told in Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.”

What are “spiritual treasures”?  While most of us have an individualized definition, mine assures me that no matter what happens on this earth, no matter the state of my country’s economy, how my body may physically fail, or how others disappoint me; God is always there and He will never leave me nor forsake me. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

No matter how many disappointments I experience, no matter what the Enemy may try to manipulate, my faith can not be taken from me without my consent.

Remembering to count my spiritual treasures helps me to keep earthly disappointments in perspective.  And, as always, the Lord has words of encouragement: “The Lord Almighty is with us.” Psalm 46:7

Reflections:

1) List what makes you feel fulfilled.

2)  What small change can you make in your life, (prayer, bible study, etc)  to pare that list down to one thing:God.

3) Implement those changes, and ask someone close to keep you accountable.

4) Contemplate the scripture: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Deuteronomy 31:6.

5) Do you know the truth in the promise, beyond a doubt.  What life experiences have solidified your trust in that Scripture?

Thank you for reading!  Please return by Monday, November 19, for the next post.
