Spiritual Lesson From Parenting, Part IV

Posted on June 26, 2013 by stefanielynn3@gmail.com

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

Years ago, I took Kira, then seven, to American Girl Place in Chicago.  While there, we had tea in the cafe’.  Reading from the box of conversation starters on the table, I asked Kira, “What’s the best compliment you have ever received?”

Her answer astonished me; “When people tell me I look like you.”

How honored God must feel when our thoughts, our words, our actions reflect Him.

How do you feel when someone says to you, “There is something uniquely different about you,” and they mean it in a positive light?

Is Christ shining through?  Is He getting the credit?

God doesn’t need us to feed His ego; but He does love it when we want to praise Him, credit Him, and reflect Him.  He also loves it when we obey His commands and point others to Him.

Reflections:

1) Do my words and deeds reflect the Lord?

2) What have I done today which pointed others toward Christ?

3) Do others know I’m a Christian by my actions?  Or, do my deeds dissuade them from Christ?

Recently on our church message sign, we posted this message: “You may be the only Bible that someone reads today.” I know that we, as Christian parents, are the FIRST Bibles our children read. Your post was timely for me today. Although my children are older now, I want them to still “read” God’s word in me. Sandy

Sandy, You are so right, you are affecting your adult children’s lives more than you might know right now. Hang in there, and thanks for commenting! Stefanie > Date: Mon, 1 Jul 2013 14:57:55 +0000 > To: Stefanie_L_Brown@hotmail.com >
